Led by the successes of the B-52s and R.E.M., Athens, Georgia was the most happening music scene in the country by the mid-1980s. Following several different bands from different genres, this documentary from Tony Gayton paints Athens as a cooperative musical artistic environment where bands are not in competition but coexist in harmony with shared ideals. The bands include the B-52s, R.E.M., Pylon, Limbo District, the Flat Duo Jets, the Bar-B-Q Killers, Love Tractor, and more. There are also appearances by folk artist Howard Finster, poet John Seawright, and local journalist/ raconteur ORT.
